With just a few days left until it's officially summer, we'd like to list out our favorite summer work out tunes. Whether you are into rap, pop, country or the oldies we have something for you. It's been a good year so far for up-lifting, fun music and we expect that trend to continue on for the rest of the summer but for now here are a few of our favorite tunes for getting your sweat on in the gym or at home. Even if you are not into going to the gym and prefer walking, running or swimming this summer, these tunes can help motivate you.
"Old Town Road" - Lil Nas X ft. Billy Ray Cyrus
Slow yet upbeat this song is super fun to workout to whether you are lifting weights, jogging, swimming or doing some just doing some pre-workout stretching. This song is a fantastic combination of hip-hop and country by artists Lil Nas and Billy Ray Cyrus and we think it'll be a hit for the rest of the year! Check out the music video below which includes guest stars: Chris Rock, Haha Davis, Rico Nasty, Diplo, Jozzy, Young Kio, and Vince Staples.
Taylor Swift - "Me" (featuring Brendon Urie)
It's hard to imagine a summer in the last few years without a hit by Taylor Swift dominating the radio. And whether you identify yourself as a "Swiftie" or not we think you'll enjoy this up-beat song and it's positive message of celebrating one's individuality. Taylor has done it again with this song by producing a catchy, uplifting song that appeals to all ages and genders. This song is great to go on a jog to, lift weights to or simply go on a walk with headphones in on a beautiful summer day. Be sure to check out her fun music video below which features Brendon Urie from Panic at the Disco.
The Beach Boys - "Kukomo"
In our opinion, it wouldn't be a real summer without a little Beach Boys thrown into the mix. "Kukomo" is one of those songs that never ages and appeals to all ages! We cannot stop listening to this song, and all of The Beach Boys hits, once it gets warm outside. It's uplifting beat is great for the gym or just when vacationing on the beach with family and friends. Check out the 1988 music video below, an oldie but a goodie!
Lizzo - "Juice"
Looking for a song that talks about loving yourself and knowing you are beautiful while working out? Body-positive artist Lizzo has come out with another genius song, "Juice" that is just for you, ladies. This song is great to dance to, run to or do any workout to if you are looking for a song that is uplifting and sends the message of "being cute." With her positive messages, it's no surprise that Lizzo has become a rising star in the last few years and we expect her songs to continue to dominate. Check out her music video below which features a fun 80's vibe and Lizzo practicing aerobics - another great workout try this song to!
Solange - "Binz"
We challenge you to listen to this song just once! Yes, it's that good. Solange Knowles, yes the younger sister of Beyonce, has come out with a song that is both uplifting and ethereal. We cannot stop listening to this song which is okay since it is less than a minute and a half! We recommend doing yoga to this song or enjoying it on repeat after a work-out session to help you relax. See her video below!
Young Thug - The London (ft. J. Cole & Travis Scott)
I'd describe this song as a super chill hip-hop song with fantastic beats and a rhythm you can definitely groove to. This song is great to lift weights to, do zumba to or even run on hte treadmill to. Be sure to check out the music video below.
- Parental Advisory Warning: Be sure to not listen to this when working out when the kids are around since the lyrics are NOT kid-friendly!
Imagine Dragons - "Natural"
This hit actually came out last year but that doesn't stop it from dominating the radio or the gym! It's lyrics alone are powerful and we recommend lifting weights, running, cycling or any other intense work-out you enjoy doing to this song. The entire album, "Origins," is a masterpiece and provides many songs to enjoy while at the gym.
